Birthdate: | Jan 2 |
Name: Serenity
BirthBuiltdate: August 2459
Species: 03-K64-Firefly class Mid-Bulk Transport/Humanified.
PB: Sarah McLachlan (as human)
Canon: Firefly
-First flight was in September 2359; first bought in October.
-First owners were smugglers, though not ones that were real interested in her needs beyond keeping her afloat. They were ruthless, and they were good; though it was easier to make a living back then.
-Didn't actually have a name, under them. The pilot called her baby, and that's the closest they got. He thought he was damn good. Really, it was all her.
-They got rid of her after twenty years and two highly bloody changes of leadership. She was lucky to get bought again. Even smugglers were forgetting how good a Firefly was.
-Spent four years with the new crew, and the best name they could come up with was Flicker. They weren't any more imaginative in their flying, either.
-Twenty-nine endless years she spent in that gorram junk yard. They barely tried to show her off. Anyone who had the money for a ship, even a used ship, didn't want a Firefly.
-Malcolm Reynolds saved her, and she loved him as much as a machiene could love someone.
-He had good taste, too, because Kaylee and Wash could make her fly like no one else.
-Okay, so she saw her share of close calls and parts dropping off under them, but still. And, well, there was that time Kaylee started ignoring her to chase after the new doctor, but when she blew her catalyzer, Kaylee came back.
-Started to get visits from River around that time. River could read her, too, but it was different from Kaylee. Not bad, just different.
-Oh, yeah, and they were smugglers too. But they had a heart. And they were smart enough to find most of her little nooks, which no one else had been.
-Couldn't say anything, but would have shaken Early off if she could. When River said she was the ship, it was partly because she was speaking for Serenity, too.
-There was that time when they tore her up on purpose. She didn't understand, then, but they did fix her up. Eventually.
-Mourned Wash in her own way, but luckily, River understood. She was a pretty good substitute, too.
